It's impossible to please everyone in a big family.

When you get a bunch of different personality types in one room, it's impossible to make sure that everyone comes away happy. Everyone has different needs and different expectations, and there's no way to square all of those at the same time. But it's tempting to try to get on everyone's good side. Maybe you're a people pleaser, and you hate feeling like you're letting someone down. You want everyone to get along, and you want to be part of that peacekeeping. But it's not an easy task. And sometimes you end up hurting yourself when you try to make room for everyone else. It's better to draw boundaries around what you will and won't accept. And when it comes to money, you have to draw these boundaries especially firmly.

People will try to take advantage of you if you let them. You have to be on guard for this kind of treatment, or else you'll end up in a bad way. It's no good to be a pushover, even within the confines of your own family. You get to do things the way you'd like them done, and nobody can stand in the way of that. That's what one family encountered when they were about to take a trip to Disney World. There weren't an infinite number of resources to go around, so some feelings got hurt when some people were excluded.
